Stephen J.Brady STOP Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship awardees comprise a wide variety of students, ages 5 to 25, who are recognized at the national and regional level and hail from across the country. A program that recognizes students who are driving awareness and mobilizing youth to be catalysts for innovative models that provide solutions to eliminate hunger in the U.S.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Eligibility- 9th-12th grade, essay max. 1000 words essay- Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level.

Florida Chapter of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society Scholarship
This scholarship was created in honor or their members involved in the air campaign over Europe in World War II.
In an essay of not more than 1000 words, explain what challenges were faced by the Eighth Air Force in World War II and which one in particular you would have found most difficult and why. All entries are to be double-spaced and single-sided. A cover sheet with the student’s name, grade, school, and email address should be attached following the last page of the essay. Include a word count. Applicants whose essays exceed the word limit will not be considered. Any essay containing unattributed, previously published material will also not be considered. Applicants are expected to conduct their own research and use their own words to complete their submission. Mail essays to: 8th Air Force Historical Society Essay Contest, 210 Jones Creek Drive, Jupiter, FL, 33458. Winners will be notified within two weeks of that date and asked to be recognized and read their essay at the next meeting of the 8th Air Force Historical Society if available.

American Meteorological Society Industry Minority Scholarship
Eligibility- minority students traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, and Native Hawaiian Students, who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Eligibility- need based. Applicants must meet the requirements above and also either be a first generation college student or eligible for free or reduced lunch program. (an alternative project could replace the 40 volunteer hours for students who are awarded the Kurucz scholarship) This scholarship awards one high school recipient with $2,500 for their freshman year of college, and grants eligibility for $2,500 in their sophomore year of college if the student maintains full-time student status (24 credit hours or equivalent) with a GPA of 3.0 or greater (or equivalent) for the first year.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program
Eligibility-high school juniors and seniors who have a passion for improving their communities.

* A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization selected by the bank. Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Teen Scholarship Essay Contest
Each year, AFA holds a Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship Essay Contest which asks high school seniors to describe how Alzheimer’s disease changed or impacted their lives. Whether they’ve had a loved one with the disease, volunteered or worked as a caretaker or are just passionate about the cause, the next generation of leaders in the fight against Alzheimer’s have a story to tell. The Dream Scholarship
Eligibility- High school senior, minimum un-weighted GPA of 2.5, intending to enroll in an associates or bachelor degree program at a partner college (FL partner colleges are Broward College, Palm Beach State College, Florida International University, Miami-Dade College, Valencia College, University of Central Florida), eligible for in state tuition at the partner college, have DACA or TPS or certify you meet the DACA immigration criteria (came to US before 16th birthday, continuously resided in the US since June 15, 2012) demonstrated significant unmet financial need and the determination to succeed in college and in life.

Briana Marie Cox Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility- Palm Beach County or Martin County high school senior who, in their lifetime, has lost a parent, legal guardian, or sibling. Proof of loss in the form of a copy of the death certificate, or equivalent legal document, is required.
Financial need is not a consideration. Judging will be based on each candidate’s overall prior and continuing achievements, including activity in school organizations, the community, and athletics, as well as their academic record, and interviews in which the candidates will discuss their career plans and personal aspirations. Some special consideration will be given to those interested in pursuing a medical career or career in the ministry (these were Briana’s interests).
Amount- First place is a one-time, non-renewable, minimum award of $3,000 will be paid to the school for which the recipient provides proof of enrollment. Nat Moore Scholarship Endowment
Eligibility: Graduating high school senior, demonstrate financial need, as well as a commitment to community service.
Minimum GPA: 2.5
Selection Criteria: Demonstrate financial need, list of community service hours, personal statement between 500-700 words.
Amount: The number of scholarships awarded is based on the funding available and the number of quality applications received. The maximum award amount is $10,000 and will be disbursed in increments of $2,500 per year for four years.

Project Change Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating high school senior and demonstrate financial need, 3.0 minimum GPA, high school senior graduating from a Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach county high school, financial need
Selection Criteria: Submit 300-500 word essay on the following question: What social justice change do you want to see in your community and how will this scholarship help you achieve that change?
Amount: The Miami Dolphins Project Change Scholarship will identify one high school student each year and pay for their tuition to college over a four-year period.

Eligibility- Grades 6-12, Drawing inspiration from your own life and the quotes at right, write an essay or poem or create a piece of art or music or a video that explores the topic of HOPE. Reflect on what the writers are thinking, how they interpret this abstract word in a concrete way, and how they help us understand and think more deeply about the subject. (limit 500 words).
